Our Journey
Our journey began towards the end of 2014, when a group of friends arranged a one-off donation to the people of Northeast Nigeria who were affected and displaced by insurgency. However, the enormity of the situation quickly became apparent which led to the formation of Foundation for Refugee Economic Empowerment (FREE) in Nigeria and subsequently in the UK.
The Foundation has made a determined effort to have a lasting impact on the people who have been left without homes and access to the most basic needs such as clean water, healthcare, and education. We also help provide a source of livelihood, while continuing to offer relief and assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnee communities by raising awareness and providing humanitarian assistance.
The foundation has spent years generating greater awareness and continues to work tirelessly to raise funds to provide immediate relief and also rehabilitative measures to address long-term requirements towards enabling a return to normal, sustainable and productive lives.
Our commitment to humanitarian aid has led us to provide emergency response in Bangladesh, Turkey, and Syria. During these times of crisis, we have mobilized our resources to deliver essential supplies, medical assistance, and support to those affected by natural disasters and conflict. Our rapid response efforts have helped alleviate suffering and provide hope to communities in need.
